Using the igrep Toolbar
Installing the Toolbar
- How do I install the igrep Toolbar?
- Installing the igrep Toolbar is as easy as visiting
www.igrep.com/toolbar/
and following the instructions on the screen. Installation
takes just about one minute.
- After installation, you should see the toolbar appear
in your browser.
- What are the system requirements for the igrep Toolbar?
- Internet Explorer: Microsoft Windows 98, 2000, NT,
or XP and Internet Explorer 5.5 or 6.0.
- Firefox: Firefox 1.0 or greater on Macintosh, Windows,
or Linux
- I installed the igrep Toolbar but it doesn’t appear.
What do I do?
- Internet Explorer: If the igrep Toolbar doesn’t appear
in the new browser window, go to the View menu in Internet
Explorer and select Toolbars. Be sure that igrep Toolbar
is checked. If this does not cause the toolbar to appear,
please try closing all open browser windows and restarting
your browser. If this doesn’t work either, please try
restarting your computer and then opening a new browser
window.
- Firefox: If the igrep Toolbar doesn’t appear in the
new browser window, first make sure that you have quit
Firefox and restarted it after the installation. If
you have, go to the Tools menu in Firefox and choose
Extensions. You should see the igrep Toolbar listed
there. If it is not listed there, try reinstalling.
If it is listed (and shown as active) go to the View
menu in Firefox and select Toolbars. Be sure that igrep
Toolbar is checked.
- I did all that and it still doesn’t appear. What else
can I check?
- Internet Explorer: If there were problems during the
installation of the igrep Toolbar you should double
check that you: Are running Microsoft Windows and Internet
Explorer 5.5 or above; you have an Amazon.com account;
you selected Yes in the installation dialog box; and
you have at least Power User permissions if you are
running Windows NT, 2000, or XP. (If not, contact your
system administrator for assistance).
- How do I update the igrep Toolbar?
- Internet Explorer: The toolbar is designed to be self-updating
with no user intervention necessary.Once a day, the
toolbar checks for any updates and notify the user to
download the updates. Once you user accept to download
the new updates. Toolbar will automatically download
new updates and install in your browser. To check for
updates any time clicks on igrep drop down menu and
select Updates.

igrep Toolbar Features
- igrep Menu
- Clicking on the igrep Menu button will take you to
the igrep.com homepage. Clicking on the small arrow
will give you these options:
- igrep.com Home
- This also takes you to the igrep.com Homepage
- igrep Links
- Link to igrep advance search page and links to our
entire network.
- Clear History
- Your previous searches are stored in a drop-down list
next to the search box on the left side of the Google
Toolbar. Selecting this menu item clears that history
of your searches.
- Help
- Help: Brings you to this page. Contact Us: We want
to hear what you think about the igrepToolbar. Use this
option to send questions and comments. Uninstall: Allows
you to remove the igrep Toolbar from your system.
- Uninstall
- Allows you to uninstall the igrep Toolbar. More details
are here.
- Search
- The igrep Toolbar includes an igrep.com search box.
Just enter your search terms in the box and press the
Enter/Return key or click the Search button. Your search
results will be displayed on the igrep.com website.
- Highlight
- To make finding what you are looking for easy, the
igrep Toolbar will automatically highlight your search
terms. If you click the highlighter icon after conducting
your search, you will see your search terms highlighted
in bright colors on the search results page.
- Do I have to do a search to use the highlighter?
- No, you don’t have to do a search to use the highlighter.
Just type one or more words in the search box and click
the highlight button.
- Your History
- What is History?
- Shows you the last several searches that you have
done. Select an item to perform the search again.
- Internet Explorer: Popup Manager
- Prevents most pop-up ads from being displayed by
your browser. The button icon changes to reflect whether
the pop-up blocker is active or if a pop-up has been
prevented from launching. To allow pop-ups to launch
on a one time basis without turning off the pop-up blocker,
press the Ctrl key as you click the link to move to
a new page. To turn off the pop-up blocker without removing
it from the Toolbar, simply click on the icon in the
Toolbar itself.
Firefox: There is no Popup Manager feature in the igrep
Toolbar for Firefox because Firefox comes with a built-in
popup blocker.
Uninstalling the igrep Toolbar
- How do I uninstall the igrep Toolbar?
- To uninstall the igrep Toolbar, click on the small
down arrow by the igrep logo on the toolbar and select
Help > Uninstall... from the drop down menu and follow
the instructions on the screen.
- Internet Explorer: The toolbar may also be uninstalled
using your computer’s Add/Remove Programs feature. Open
your Windows Start menu, go to Settings, click on Control
Panel, and then double click on Add/Remove Programs.
Click on igrep Toolbar and then click the remove button.
The next time you open a new browser window, the toolbar
should be gone.
- Firefox: The toolbar may also be uninstalled using
Firefox's Extension Manager pane. Go to Tools/Extensions,
select the igrep Toolbar, and click the Uninstall button.
The igrep Toolbar will be uninstalled when the browser
is restarted.
- To ensure that the igrep Toolbar is completely uninstalled,
you must make sure that you close all your browser windows
and quit and restart your browser.
